Drug and alcohol detox can be an extremely difficult phase of recovery, with withdrawal symptoms such as physical pain, anxiety, insomnia, muscle cramps, diarrhea, nausea and/or vomiting. At our drug detox center, we’re here to support our clients through this challenging time and make sure they are as comfortable and safe as possible. We start with a thorough, personalized assessment, which we consider the key to a successful detox.  Blood is drawn and analyzed for drug-induced medical complications, such as liver problems, blood count abnormalities, and other potential health issues. Results of the assessment guide the treatment plan, which is established by a multidisciplinary clinical team and closely monitored by our expert medical and nursing staff under the supervision of Mel Pohl, MD, FASAM, who serves as our Medical Director. Appropriate medications are prescribed to manage withdrawal and keep individuals medically safe. The Las Vegas Recovery Center offers a variety of medications, including the short-term use of methadone or buprenorphine (Subutex) when indicated. In fact, we are Nevada’s only private treatment facility licensed by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and equipped for medically monitored withdrawal from methadone.

LVRC Drug and Alcohol Detox Program Boasts Highly Regarded Clinical Team

Twenty-four hour nursing care is available throughout the drug addiction detox process, and clients can expect a visit from someone on the medical team every day. Each patient is thoroughly evaluated by the clinical team, who creates an individualized treatment plan. Treatment is tailored to each person’s specific requirements, as each brings his or her own unique, physical and emotional needs to recovery. Detox medications are given when indicated. We deal with the most complex and difficult cases throughout drug addiction detox, including dependence on all types of opiates (narcotic painkillers), sedatives (sleeping pills), anti-anxiety drugs (nerve pills), stimulants (cocaine and methamphetamine), alcohol, and marijuana. We are here to assure that each individual is in the hands of highly qualified medical professionals as they go through drug and alcohol detox, and that he or she feels fully supported. Our professional, caring clinical staff is medically supervised by the highly regarded Mel Pohl, MD, FASAM, who writes and speaks extensively on the subjects of addiction and chronic pain.

Compassion and Caring Characterize the Drug Detox Center at the Las Vegas Recovery Center

Care and compassion are critical elements to recovery when it comes to the tough challenges of detox, which is a time when clients need full understanding and support. The professionals at our drug detox center are not only expert clinicians, we are a staff with big hearts for those who have chosen recovery. We have seen up close how addiction can rip apart a person and his or her family, and we know all about the limited options some feel they have for recovery. We go beyond those limitations with knowledge, care, and hope for each person’s new life path. We respect the courage it takes to get through detox, and we have deep experience with helping individuals get through it. At the conclusion of the detox phase, and once our clients are medically stable, we prepare them for long-term recovery. It is our privilege to help them find their way to lifelong maintenance of abstinence.
