Enhanced Recovery Services: Recovery For The Mind, Body, & Spirit
YOGA
Yoga promotes the body's capacity to relax.
The word yoga is Sanskrit for "union" or "joining together," and its basic techniques date back over five thousand years. Yoga is the practice of physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation that aim to renew and align the mind, body, and spirit. Many clients find that the gentle, guided meditations of yoga help quiet overactive minds that are often associated with the early stages of recovery. The benefits of yoga are almost immediate as it promotes the body's capacity to relax. Yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and guided relaxation may help to release body tension and calm the nervous system. Yoga exercises the glands, organs, and endocrine system while increasing circulation, which can help in the elimination of toxins from the body. This can be beneficial to clients as they go through detox, as well as our rehabilitation program. Cheryl A. Slader Cheryl is a Certified Jivamukti Yoga Instructor with twenty-two years' teaching experience in yoga, dance, gymnastics, and personal training. She is the founder and director of Blue Sky Yoga in Las Vegas and teaches a number of yoga practices such as Nada (sound) Yoga, Kirtan(chanting), and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation). Cheryl lives the practice she teaches and strives to help clients get calm, centered, and self-confident through yoga. She believes yoga can teach a person how to overcome negativity and obstacles in his or her life. |
