Enhanced Recovery Services: Recovery For The Mind, Body, & Spirit
PHYSICAL MEDICINE
Chiropractic may assist in the control of cravings and help to alleviate
withdrawal symptoms.
The use of chiropractic—a hands-on therapy usually involving the adjustment of the joints and bones in a person's spine—was developed in the late 19th century. The name chiropractic comes from the Greek cheiro meaning "hand" and prakto meaning "to use." The basic tenet of chiropractic is that vertebrae that are not in alignment can affect the nervous system. This in turn can often cause pain and/or dysfunction in the organs or muscles that are served by those nerves. Chiropractic, when used as an adjunct to our treatment program, may assist in the control of cravings and help to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Other possible effects include relief from headaches, stress, tension, anxiety, and muscular pain and tightness that are often associated with withdrawal. |
