Las Vegas Recovery Center Staff Speaking at Counseling Skills ConferenceLas Vegas, NV -- Several distinguished members of the Las Vegas Recovery Center Staff will be speaking at the 13th Annual Counseling Skills Conference, to be held September 27-29, 2007 at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, NV. Denise D. Crosson RN, PhD (Vice President of Clinical Programs and Director of Research at the Foundation for Recovery), Jim Tracy, DDS, CADC (Director of National Outreach), and Mel Pohl MD, FASAM (Medical Director) will be presenting Outcome Data in an Opiate-free Integrated Chronic Pain & Addiction Treatment Program—Evaluation of First Year. The study being presented evaluated the effects of an opiate-free integrated chronic pain and addiction treatment program on pain level, functional status, and level of optimism. Interventions used included non-opiate pharmacologic therapy blended with complementary, alternative, and physical medicine approaches. This program was a continuation of ongoing research conducted at LVRC and at the Foundation for Recovery, a non-profit research organization and charity.
The 13th Annual Counseling Skills Conference focuses on trauma, mindfulness, more effective treatment, depression, self-harm, and will also include a specialized training track on pain and addiction. Various disciplines and professionals in the Mental Health, Behavioral Health and Addiction related fields such as Social Workers, Nurses (RN), Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT), Counselors (LPC), Alcohol & Chemical Dependency Counselors, Behavioral Science Psychologists, and Psychotherapists) are eligible to earn 24 Board Approved CEU's.
