Frequently Asked Questions

Answers

Q: What can I expect if I go to Las Vegas Recovery Center?
A: You can expect a nurturing, supportive environment, where you will be treated with dignity and respect. Our facility is private, and we adhere to a strict confidentiality rule, which allows you to safely and discreetly begin the recovery process from the disease of addiction. You can also expect to develop solutions to problems that may have brought you to us and to develop a plan of action for continuing recovery when you leave.
Q: What is the difference between detox and rehab?
A: The detoxification phase of the program is when a client receives medically prescribed medication to eliminate drugs from the body. This stage requires intensive medical attention at the beginning of treatment. If you need detoxification, you will be closely monitored by our experienced medical staff while you are safely and comfortably withdrawn. Once you are medically cleared from the detoxification phase, you will be able to participate fully in the rehabilitation program, which offers a unique and diverse range of therapeutic activities to enable you to gain an understanding of the disease of addiction and the recovery process. Remember, detox is not a cure in itself. In order to actively recover and not revert back to the problems that brought you here, you must deal with the underlying issues that caused the addiction and develop an aftercare plan.
Q: What if I am already on medication?
A: You will receive a thorough evaluation by our treating physician at the time of admission, as well as a complete medical history and physical examination. At that time, all medications will be reviewed and any adjustments or changes to medications may be made. Our nursing staff will administer all medications during your stay in treatment.
Q: What if I need a prescription that isn't part of my detoxification?
A: The medications needed to withdraw during detoxification will be provided in the cost of treatment. Any other medications not relating to substance abuse treatment will be your responsibility. We encourage clients to bring all regular medications at the time of admission. Our pharmacy is happy to bill individual insurance plans for any prescriptions that may need to be filled while in treatment, so it is important to bring any prescription cards with you at the time of admission. If your insurance does not cover the cost of your medications, it will be your responsibility to make financial arrangements to get your medication.
Q: How often will I receive medical care?
A: You will be seen within twenty-four hours of admission into the facility by our attending physician. At this time, your physician will complete a medical assessment and determine your detox protocol. Within forty-eight hours, you will receive a complete history and physical by a physician to determine if there are any co-existing medical issues that would need to be part of your treatment plan. We provide twenty-four-hour nursing care, and our physician is on-call at all times and visits the facility daily.
Q: Will my family be able to participate in treatment?
A: Addiction is a disease that affects everyone around the addicted person, especially those closest to you. Your family, as well as others essential to your recovery, will be welcomed and encouraged to participate in treatment, with your permission. Family therapy sessions will be scheduled by your primary counselor.
Q: Will I be allowed visitors?
A: After the initial seventy-two hours of admission, clients are allowed to receive visitors on Sundays only between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. Any visits outside of these hours will need to be arranged and approved in advance by a primary counselor and the clinical director.
Q: What should I bring with me?
A: Remember that the duration of stay at our facility could be as long as ninety days, so you need to bring plenty of toiletries and a weeks supply of comfortable clothing as laundry service is provided. Make sure that the apparel is appropriate and respectful, i.e. clothing that isn't too tight or revealing, clothing that doesn't have any kind of drug references on it, etc. Also remember to bring all medications, insurance cards, and photo ID for admissions.
Q: Will my insurance cover my treatment?
A: Many private insurance plans offer benefits for substance abuse treatment. Our admission's office will be happy to verify benefits and eligibility and let you know how your insurance can help with the cost of treatment.
Q: Will I have access to the Internet?
A:If you have a need for Internet access, make sure you discuss this with your primary counselor, and any access will need to be pre-approved by the counselor and the clinical director. Each client's needs are assessed on an individual basis.
Q: Will I be allowed to make or receive phone calls?
A: After the initial seventy-two hours of your admission, you will be allowed to make one supervised ten-minute outgoing telephone call per day. If you'll be calling long-distance, we ask that you bring pre-paid long-distance calling cards with you at the time of admission. Any necessary additional telephone calls will need prior approval from your primary counselor and the clinical director. To best protect your privacy and confidentiality while you are in treatment, we do not accept any incoming phone calls, except on an emergency basis, and we will never either confirm or deny your presence to anyone calling to inquire about you.
Q: How much money will I be allowed to keep with me?
A: You will be allowed to keep a maximum of $50 on you at any given time. If you happen to run low at any time during your stay, you can receive up to this amount from family, visitors, or through the mail.
Q: Will I have access to washers and dryers?
A: Your laundry will be picked up and laundered two days a week by our housekeeping staff. Please be advised that we are not responsible for lost or damaged items during your stay.
Q: What if I have legal issues pertaining to my substance abuse?
A: Legal problems are often consequences of active addiction. Our counseling staff are willing to assist you in every way that they can by providing any documentation, reporting, and verification that may be required to your attorney, a judge, or any other legal professional. Help us help you by advising us of any legal predicament you may be facing as soon as you contact us.
Q: Will I have to attend twelve-step meetings?
A: Yes. Twelve-step meetings are a vital part of the recovery process. Attending these meetings regularly provides a supportive, encouraging, and structured environment in which you can recover. You are not alone in this process, and attending meetings helps verify this fact.
Q: Is Las Vegas Recovery Center accredited?
A: Yes. LVRC is accredited by The Joint Commission. We are also fully licensed and certified by the State of Nevada, Bureau of Licensure and Certification and the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Agency.
Q: What happens after I am released from the program?
A: We offer an extensive aftercare program, which we begin implementing during your treatment. You will have twenty-four-hour access to our staff if you have any questions or concerns after you leave treatment. We also have an Alumni meeting once a week for ninty minutes. This allows you to share your experience, strength, and hope with fellow recovering addicts. You can also enroll in our outpatient treatment program for further care. You are not alone at any time during your recovery.
Q: What if I have been diagnosed as having depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder? Will you still be able to treat me?
A: Our focus is primarily on substance abuse, but we recognize that co-existing disorders may complicate the recovery process. We have a psychiatrist on staff who is available to consult and treat non-acute psychiatric diagnoses. Psychiatric consultations and follow-up visits are not included in our usual and customary rates. There will be an additional charge if these services are required.
Q: What about smoking?
A: While we recognize that nicotine is an addictive substance, you will not be required to quit smoking while at Las Vegas Recovery Center. This is an issue that can be dealt with in the later stages of recovery, as we do not wish to have nicotine withdrawals interfere with the beginning stages of your treatment. If you want to quit smoking, we will assist you in that process. If you smoke, please bring enough cigarettes to cover your length of stay.
