Dr. Mel Pohl Featured in a Special Report on Prescription Drug Abuse
Dr. Mel Pohl, Medical Director of Las Vegas Recovery Center (LVRC) was featured in a special report on celebrity and prescription drug abuse on Channel 8 Las Vegas Now News. All of the prescription drugs found in Heath Ledger's system point to a wide spread problem, even here in Las Vegas. The abused drug of choice is coming from a doctor more and more.
Dr. Pohl says some prescription drug addictions start in the Doctor's office, but the latest trends with kids are even scarier. "In 18 to 25-year-olds prescription drug abuse is the number one problem," said Pohl. "I think parents are in denial and they need to wake up. They need to wake up to the fact that the source of the drugs is not an external dealer. It's their medicine cabinet."
