Las Vegas Recovery Center to be featured on A&E's Intervention
Las Vegas Recovery Center will be featured on an upcoming episode of A&E’s Intervention. The episode will air Monday, May 10th at 9 pm (8 pm Central). LVRC is proud to be the first facility in Nevada to work with the Emmy-award winning television series.
Las Vegas Recovery Center has long been considered a destination for those seeking specialized and effective treatment for the disease of addiction. In addition to our traditional addiction treatment and family programs, our innovative Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program provides opioid-free treatment for those suffering from chronic pain and drug dependence. A&E’s choice of sending this case across the country to participate in our program mirrors the experience we have of increased nationwide referrals to Las Vegas Recovery Center. We were also pleased that the interventionist working with this case, Candy Finnigan, encouraged participation in our highly rated Family Renewal Program.
In the episode airing on Monday, the subject’s struggle with childhood trauma and chronic pain has led to drug and alcohol addiction. Please tune in to watch LVRC Medical Director Mel Pohl, MD, FASAM, and LVRC Senior Clinical and Family Services Advisor Claudia Black, PhD discuss this case.
For more information on Las Vegas Recovery Center programs please contact Sarah Day at (702) 515-1374 or SDay@CentralRecovery.com.

Dr. Mel Pohl Featured in a Special Report on Prescription Drug Abuse
Dr. Mel Pohl, Medical Director of Las Vegas Recovery Center (LVRC) was featured in a special report on celebrity and prescription drug abuse on Channel 8 Las Vegas Now News. All of the prescription drugs found in Heath Ledger's system point to a wide spread problem, even here in Las Vegas. The abused drug of choice is coming from a doctor more and more.
Dr. Pohl says some prescription drug addictions start in the Doctor's office, but the latest trends with kids are even scarier. "In 18 to 25-year-olds prescription drug abuse is the number one problem," said Pohl. "I think parents are in denial and they need to wake up. They need to wake up to the fact that the source of the drugs is not an external dealer. It's their medicine cabinet."
